I still wake up holding you

Hey little shell from the pretty blue sea
You seemed a treasure intended for me
Yet every night I pause and wonder
If you’d rather be free in the deep blue yonder

Gently I’ll hold you in my hand
And make a wish on your pretty blue band
That you’ll take me back in my dreams tonight
And I’ll dance in my white nightgown in the soft moonlight

Then I’ll hold you out into a wave
And set you free in the wild waters you crave
I’ll wait until I’m certain you are gone
Climb the steep wall stairs on my own.
Until the bright sunrise chases me home.
